A safe, structured space where children learn skills, build confidence, and grow

Many children struggle with big feelings, impulsive behaviors, or challenges that make school, home, and friendships harder than they should be. Parents often know something isn’t working — they just don’t always know where to turn.

At NOVA Community Services, we created the Behavioral Play & Support Center to bridge that gap. Our center offers structured, developmentally appropriate behavioral support for children ages 5 and up, led by trained professionals who understand how to help kids learn the skills they need to thrive.

This is not therapy — it’s skill-building, behavior coaching, and guided play designed to help children practice healthier behaviors in a supportive environment.

Our groups and one-on-one sessions are intentionally designed to help kids build confidence, manage big emotions, and develop real-life coping skills—all within a structured, encouraging space where they can truly thrive.

At NOVA, we understand that some children need more than just activities—they need guidance, structure, and support to truly thrive.

Our programs are designed for children ages 5+ who may:

  • Struggle with behavior at school or home

  • Have difficulty managing emotions or frustration

  • Need help building social skills and confidence

  • Benefit from a smaller, more supportive environment

  • Are expressing negative behaviors or self-harming

  • Are beginning to pull away from things they once enjoyed

What We Offer

QMHP‑Led Behavioral Play Groups

Our group sessions are led by Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) who specialize in child behavior and skill development.

These groups are not a replacement for therapy. Instead, they focus on:

  • Emotional regulation

  • Social skills

  • Following directions

  • Conflict resolution

  • Coping strategies

  • Confidence building

  • Positive peer interactions

  • Problem-solving

  • Healthy communication

Children learn through guided play, structured activities, and hands‑on practice — because kids learn best when they’re engaged, supported, and having fun.

Why QMHP‑Led Groups Work

  • They provide real‑time coaching during play.

  • Children practice skills in a natural, low‑pressure environment.

  • Parents receive feedback and strategies they can use at home.

  • Groups help children feel less alone in their struggles.

  • They build confidence through success and positive reinforcement.

How Our Services Help Parents

Parents often feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or unsure how to help their child. Our center provides:

  • Clear guidance and practical strategies

  • Support from trained professionals

  • A team approach — you’re not doing this alone

  • A safe space for your child to grow

  • Progress updates and communication

  • Tools you can use at home

We help parents understand why behaviors happen and how to support change.

Who Benefits Most From Our Center

Our services are ideal for children who:

  • Struggle with emotional regulation

  • Have difficulty making or keeping friends

  • Show disruptive or impulsive behaviors

  • Need help with social skills

  • Have trouble following directions

  • Experience anxiety or frustration

  • Need structured support outside of school

  • Are waiting for therapy or need additional skill practice

If a child is struggling — at home, at school, or socially — we can help.

Why We Created the Behavioral Play & Support Center

Children don’t always have the words to explain what they’re feeling. Instead, they show us through behaviors:

  • Difficulty following directions

  • Emotional outbursts

  • Trouble getting along with peers

  • Anxiety or withdrawal

  • Impulsivity or hyperactivity

  • Struggles with transitions or routines

Parents often tell us:

“I know my child is smart and capable — I just don’t know how to help them manage their behavior.”

Teachers and school counselors say:

“This student needs support, but not necessarily therapy. They need a place to learn skills.”

Pediatricians share:

“Families need accessible behavioral support options that complement clinical care.”

Our center was built to meet that need.

These groups are ideal for children who need support but may not require therapy — or who are already in therapy and need additional skill practice.

This program is a great fit for children who:

  • Need extra support with behavior or emotions

  • Have had challenges in school settings

  • Do better in smaller, structured groups

  • Could benefit from learning coping and social skills

If you’ve ever said,

‍ ‍“My child just needs a little extra support,”
‍ then these groups were created for you.
